This year’s Under 16 Doubles Championships were played at Southsea Tennis Club on Wednesday 2nd July in glorious sunshine and refereed by Jim Skinner. There were 12 boys’ pairs and 15 girls’ pairs with 10 schools being represented. Teams played round robin qualifiers before a knockout playoff.
The boys’ final was played between Robert Mays (Charlie Flynn and Ryan Golesworthy) and Ditcham Park (Tristan Blatter and Will Colley) 4-1, 4-1.
The girls’ final was played between the two teams from St Swithuns. Allegra Whittome and Emily Wickham won 5-4 (3) 5-4 (3) against Lucy Upcraft and Georgina Witter.
All the matches were played in a relaxed fair atmosphere and the overall standard of play was excellent.
