Report by Team Captain Paul Scullard:
The boys team consisting of:
- Austin Gwilliam
- Noah Bradwell
- Matthew Whitehead
- Ryan Hutchinson
- Alex Peer
- Jake Norris
We were put in a group with KENT and BERKSHIRE.
1st Match vs Kent (LOST 6-0)
A very tough tie to open our account against the strongest county on paper was met with a great overall performance. Although we lost and playing against much higher rated players, all matches were contested admirably and it was an encouraging start.
I felt we were a little unlucky not to get something on the scoreboard!!.
2nd Match vs Berkshire (WON 4-2)
This was a fiercly contested match and again the boys gave a very good account of themselves with excellent performances particularly from Noah, Alex and Ryan. An excellent win.
3rd Match -3rd / 4th PLAY OFF vs Northants (LOST 5-1)
Another very tough match and although the result didn't go our way, I was very proud of the team effort. A good win again from Alex and unlucky with some of the other matches which could have gone our way.
Overall this was a great experience and I felt the boys would have come away encouraged but also slightly disappointed. The standard was extremely high and I think Kent will be very hard to beat with several high level national players in their team.
It was a great opportunity for our team to see the level they must try to aspire to.
Well done!
