The fourteenth annual Osman Tennis Lakesmere Cup was played at River Park Tennis Centre, Winchester in glorious British sunshine. The special uniqueness of this event is the partnership between Lakesmere, (flagship sponsor of Osman Tennis ) and provider of the London Olympic Aquatics Centre roof , – and Osman Tennis – provider of accessible and community-based tennis for more than twenty years.
Forty-eight young Andy Murray and Laura Robson-wannabes from the Osman Tennis coaching programme , competed in a series of events watched by parents and friends, and organised by a small army of volunteers .
The Gold Medal & Grand Slam final performances were fiercely fought for and the finalists were:
Girls
Ages 5-6: Emma Moore (Winner)
7-8: Zahra Webb (Winner) Jasmine Jones (Runner Up_
9-12: Milly Lawrence (Winner) – Thea Kent (Runner Up)
Boys
5-6: Toby Hughes (Winner) Jacob Hutchings (Runner Up)
7-8: Nicholas Moore (Winner)– Christopher Van der Walt (Runner Up)
9-12 : Isaak Ebejer (Winner) Zavier Keay (Runner Up)
Lakesmere’s Managing Director, Mark Davey was on hand to present the cups, trophies and certificates. In his prize giving speech, Mark said “I’m always pleased and pleasantly surprised at the high standard of tennis and the organisation of this event, and this year is no exception.”
