On Sunday March 13th Herts LTA took part in a unique friendly match against the All England Club.
As the highly successful winners of both the mens and ladies trophies at Eastbourne last summer the Herts teams were specially selected to compete against the AELTC team.
Martin Guntrip was there to welcome the teams, and a decision was made to play indoors due to poor conditions. A delicious indulgent brunch preceded two rounds of matches between the teams.
For the men Herts LTA had
Tom Corrie and Hamid Hejazi (lost 2)
Nick Lester and Neil Roskilly (won 2)
AELTC men had
Ross Hutchins, James Pringle, Mark Beim, Simon Bramwell (HERTS PLAYER!!!)
For the women Herts LTA had
Kate Elliott and Katharine Baker (won 2)
Claire Ricketts and Alissa Ayling (won 1 lost 1)
AELTC women had
Caroline Janes and Ali Napier
Cath Gunn and Amanda Keen (nee Janes)
The teams then mixed up to compete in the final round as a mixed event.
Katharine Baker and Hamid Hejazi LOST TO Mark Beim and Ali Napier
Kate Elliott and Neil Roskilly BEAT Ross Hutchins and Amanda Keen
Claire Ricketts and Tom Corrie LOST TO Cath Gunn and James Pringle
Alissa Ayling and Nick Lester BEAT Simon Bramwell and Caroline Janes
Overall score 7-5 to Herts. Some great tennis was played in what was a great start to the season for Herts.
Afternoon tea concluded the day, followed by early evening drinks in the bar.
Some player guests were treated to a tour of the grounds and museum.
Martin Guntrip and Phil Brook (new Chairman) were both there the whole day.
