After nearly 2 months of local club competitions, over 30 young juniors from around Hertfordshire came together over this past weekend to compete in the 14&U Road to Wimbledon County Finals at Queenswood Tennis Centre.
After a full days play on Saturday, including 2 consolation events, we were left with the last 4 in both the boys and girls events. These semi-finals were played on Sunday morning, followed by the finals. In the girls event Mollie Crouch (Sawbridgeworth) beat Elizabeth Hodge (Letchworth) 6-1 6-0. The boys final saw a repeat of 2010 with Toby Nicholson (Letchworth) beating Jake Munns (Legends) 6-2 6-3.
Both Mollie and Toby will now represent Hertfordshire in the National Finals, held at the AELTC Wimbledon during week commencing Monday 15th August. Congratulations to both and good luck in the forthcoming tournament on the famous grass courts at Wimbledon.
