The club hosted the main tennis event of the season the week before last and we were provided with some excellent tennis especially in the Finals.
For Karen Faragher (Douglas) it was another "notch" on her racquet handle! Karen won her 18th Women's singles title having first won in 1998. Added to this she also won her 16th Women's doubles title, partnered this year by 18yr old Katie Harris and also her 16th Mixed doubles title partnered by Sean Drewry (18) who also won three titles. Karen's achievements are unequalled by any Manx tennis player in the history of the event. The prizes were presented by Brian Walton, IOMLTA Chairman who thanked referee Ian Watson and the Albany club for running the event. The Island Games team is off to Gotland on Friday and five players, Karen. Katie, Elena and Hannah Snidal and Sean Drewry all featured strongly in the Championships. I'm sure every tennis player wishes them success and we look forward to seeing medals from all events.

The next event at the club is the Albany Equiom Junior Open from 8 - 15 July. Entry forms are now in circulation. Events are: U8, U9, U10 U12,u14 and u18 singles plus U14 and U18 Doubles. Closing date for entries is Tuesday 4 July.
