Winter County Cup is always tough in Division 1 just purely because 2 teams get relegated and the standard is of the highest level. Last year the team managed to finish the weekend as National Champions and this year were hoping to do the same with a strong team.
In group 1 along with us was South Wales, Berkshire and Surrey, all very experienced teams that could potentially have won County Cup.
On the first day we played Berkshire and stated with a strong 7-2 win with some great singles wins after some close tie break sets. Day 2 saw us play Berkshire, a team who had also won their fixture on day 1. Again after some good singles performances we managed to win the tie 6-3.
On the final day, all we had to do was get the win against South Wales and nothing could prevent us from winning. We was all ready and eager. After a tight singles start with most of the rubbers going to 3 sets we were 3-3, Andy Davies and Chris Nott paired up for a doubles win which sealed the victory for the team.
A great achievement from all involved.
