Singles’ Champions, Helen Thorpe and Tom Kiesel celebrated trophy success at the Leicestershire Senior County Championships, whilst Claire Seal and Adam Popowicz both secured two Doubles’ titles each.
Fifteen-year-old Thorpe, from Melton, won the Ladies’ Singles title for the first time with victory over Seal at the Leicestershire Lawn Tennis Club. Seal then teamed up with Lucy Easters to take the Ladies’ Doubles title in a 6-2, 6-3 win over Thorpe and Jo Horne and then, partnered by Adam Popowicz, won the final of the Mixed Doubles against Jonny Cloke and Jo Horne.
Top seed Kiesel, from Rothley, successfully defended his Men's Singles title with a hard-fought 7-6 7-5 triumph over County team-mate and no 2 seed Jack Simpson. Simpson went on to win the Men's Doubles title with Adam Popowicz, securing victory over Sam Preston and Jonny Cloke in three close sets.
In the Men's over-35 Doubles, veterans Ian Thomas and Richard Wayman eventually overcame David Ireland (former 12 times winner of the Singles title) and his brother Steve in a closely-fought match, winning through 4-6 7-5 7-6.
