Exciting future in pipeline at the Nanpantan Sports Ground

Friday, November 13, 2009

The exciting multi million pound plans for the new Nanpantan Sports Ground (NSG) have been unveiled.

The NSG Partnership comprising of the four major clubs who use the facility, Loughborough Dynamo FC, Loughborough Outwoods CC, Brush Bowls Club and Charnwood Tennis Club announced their plans at the launch of their £100,000 funding drive last Sunday.

The 22 acre site has been identified by Sport England as one of very few multi-sport ‘hub clubs’ suitable for such a major investment.

A lot of visitors came to view the plans at the launch and Coun Peter Lewis (lead member for culture and leisure) and project manager John Hill, were on hand to answer questions, along with Partnership members from each of the clubs.

Things are now in the final stages for the £2.5 million re-development bid. Architects Clark, Birch, Perkins submitted the planning application last week.

It would see the demolition of the current dilapidated buildings and their replacement with two new state-of-the-art pavilions, one for football/cricket and one for bowls/tennis.

Innovative L shaped clubhouses are to be built furnished to governing body standards with each containing a bar, function and teaching facilities in addition to the changing rooms.

John Corrie of the NSG Partnership and Loughborough Outwoods said: “It’s an exciting time for all the clubs that use the NSG which is an area of immense importance to Loughborough and the Charnwood community.

“We’re asking for anybody who can help us in any way to raise the £100,000 we need to find as part of the project to get in touch with us.”
