Leicestershire women's and men's both had mixed results in County Week.
The women, relegated from Group One last year, finished third in Group Two at Ilkley.
They lost 6-3 to Lancashire on the opening day before landing three successive victories.
They defeated Derbyshire 6-3, Dorset 7-2 and Devon 9-0.
A win over Warwickshire on the final day would have earned them promotion.
But Warwickshire, the strongest team in the section, ran out 5-1 winners.
Captain Claire Seal said: "Warwickshire were just about invincible.
"The crucial match was the one against Lancashire on the first day.
"But everyone did well and represented the County well.
"It was good to have Kerry Pollard and Anne Meredith back in the team and they had a good run when we paired them together.
The men, who were promoted to Group Four last season, began with two victories at Huntstanton.
They defeated Somerset 5-4 and Buckinghamshire 6-3.
But they were edged out 5-4 by Nottinghamshire before being beaten by the two sides who gained promotion.
Essex beat County 8-1 and Suffolk inflicted a 6-3 defeat on them.
