Last year was the first Charnwood Sports Awards and had over 100 nominations for the 13 categories and culminated in a fantastic event at the Town Hall so much so Charnwood Borough Council have decided to do it all again!
However they are not just about recognising those people who actively compete in sport. The Awards also look to honour the dedicated volunteers who give up their spare time to coach teams or individuals and those who work behind the scenes to help a club run smoothly.
The awards are broken down into 14 categories, they are as follows:
• Junior Sportsperson of the Year
• Junior Volunteer of the Year
• Junior Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
• Junior Team of the Year
• Senior Sportsperson of the Year (Community)
• Senior Sportsperson of the Year (Elite)
• Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
• Senior Team of the Year
• Coach of the Year
• Club of the Year
• Contribution to School Sport
• Outstanding Contribution to Physical Activity
• Outstanding Contribution to Sport
• Volunteer of the Year
The 2010 awards focus on the achievements gained from September 2009 to the closing date, which is Friday September 24th at 5pm. To nominate someone, simply fill in the form and submit it online. Those short listed in each category will be invited to a presentation night.
