As part of the competition structure, Tennis Leicestershire and Derbyshire LTA have a leaderboard for the top participating mini tennis players in the two counties. At the end of the qualifying period, an invitational finals day is staged for each age group.
The Derbyshire and Leicestershire Mini Red and Orange Leaderboard finals were played at the Dan Maskell Tennis Centre in Loughborough on the 3rd July. The standard in the Red competition was particularly high this time, with a number of close matches. In the end Prianka Dhokia beat Millie Standen in the girls’ final and William Toft triumphed over Dylan Sanghera in the boys’ final.
Following the Red finals, the mini orange played theirs. Despite playing indoors, the conditions were not ideal, as it was very hot, but the players, clearly inspired by what had been going on at Wimbledon, maintained a high standard of play. In the End Zain Girach from Carisbrooke won the boys’ and Emilia Thompson the girls’ final.
The Green players will be in action on Saturday 10th July.
