Leicestershire Men have sealed promotion to Division Three of the Inter County Championships in emphatic style.
The young side won all five of their matches on the grass courts of Cambridge, which included an 8-1 trouncing of Herefordshire and a victory over arch rivals Nottinghamshire.
Captain Tom Kisiel said: "This is a young team on a roll having gained promotion in the last two years.
"Leicestershire now hold places in Division Three of both the summer and winter leagues, and that is as high as the County has been for many a year."
There was no joy for Leicestershire Ladies' young side, who missed out on promotion to Division One on the last day of the week-long competition in Havant.
Defeats to Essex and Sussex put paid to any promotion hopes but victory in their three other matches ensured third place and consolidated their position in Division Two.
Captain Claire Seal said: "In all my years of playing County Week, I've never experienced such a closely-fought competition.
"Going into the final day any of the counties could have gained promotion or been relegated.
"We showed a fighting spirit and battled to the bitter end to ensure we preserved our status."
