Tennis Leicestershire recently played host to 16 junior players from Australia.
The group belong to the elite sports school Caulfield which is based in Melbourne.
The visiting youngsters played the hosts in a two-day tournament at the Leicestershire club in Stoneygate.
"The Australian school tours every three years to different destinations so this was a rare opportunity to forge ties with them," said Tennis Leicestershire's Sandra Herbert.
The county eased to victory on day one but, on the second day, they doubled up with their Aussie counterparts in a ladder tournament.
"It was a brilliant idea to mix up the teams and give us the opportunity to interact with like-minded people from another country," said Matt Richmond, who is from Kibworth and one of the county's talented 16-year-olds.
Jane Gadsby, of the Leicestershire club, added: "They came to play tennis and we ended up friends. We got to know each other's culture."
The county were represented by juniors from clubs, including Oadby, Market Harborough, Victoria, David Lloyd Narborough, Market Bosworth, Leicester Forest East, Charnwood and Kibworth.
It is hoped that the county will be able to attract future touring sides following the success of the Australians' visit.
