LTA Basic Referee Course

Are you interested in becoming an LTA referee? Have you officiated at a local tournament and are interested in taking it to the next level? Then look no further.

Leicestershire will be hosting an LTA Basic Referee Course on Saturday 08 October 2011 at the Dan Maskell Tennis Centre at Loughborough University. The course will run from 9.30am to 5.00pm.

This is a free one day seminar will provide you with an introduction to:

  • British Tennis Competition Framework
  • Rules of Tennis
  • Code of Conduct
  • Referring  duties 
  • Handling difficult situations

Once you’ve completed the basic referee course, to move forward, you will need to gain a minimum of four days experience assisting an Accredited Referee; be required to have a free Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Enhanced Disclosure certificate and have joined the Association of British Tennis Officials (ABTO) as a Trainee Referee (joining fee of £20). Information on gaining these will be available on the day.

Once you have these you’ll then be eligible to enrol on the Full Referee Course.

Six coach licence points are available for attending this course.
