Charnwood Sports Awards 2013 Club of the Year!

Thursday, December 12, 2013

Loughborough Lawn Tennis Club had some unexpected good news recently that they had won Charnwood Sports Awards Club of the Year 2013 for all sports, not just tennis!

The club's nomination and subsequent win were due to meeting a number of criteria:

- The club had an increase in participation, both via recruitment of new members and also increasing the amount of tennis existing members are playing

- The club succeeded at performance level with 4 County Championship Titles (Leics Ladies Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Men's Double and 10&U Boys Singles) going to players from the club plus 3 County Championship Runners Up. Also 2 Junior Players achieving Top 20 National Rankings in the past 12 months.

- A progressive and varied coaching team which includes a number of talented young coaches that are being helped to develop.

- But a large part of the nomination was down to the clubs community work including their input at council events such as Picnic in the Park, Healthy Living days etc and their disability tennis programme in both wheelchair and learning disability tennis.
