Leicestershire Ladies over 35 team were runners up this year in Group 2 at Eastbourne, narrowly losing 3-2 to Somerset who gained promotion to Group 1. The team (Anne Meredith, Alison Fleming, Alison Ison and Sally Turner) made a confident start on the first day with a 4-1 victory over Lancashire. Leicestershire had tougher opposition against Somerset on the second day and eventually lost 3-2 with 3 very close matches being decided on a tie-break finish. The team secured its place in Group 2 next year with a 3-0 win over Essex and the blustery conditions on the last day (with a reduced format due to bad weather causing a late start). It was an impressive performance from the Leicestershire Ladies and a great team effort.
