Jade Windley ruled out for three months due to injury

Tennis pro Jade Windley could be out of action for three months after suffering a stress fracture to her left foot.

The 18-year-old former Horncastle student was given the bad news this week following an MRI scan.

"I can't pin-point a specific incident which caused the injury, I think it's just gradually worsened over the last few weeks" said Windley.
"I wasn't happy to hear the news at all. I went to the National Tennis Centre and they gave me the low-down on the injury, how it's treated and the recovery time.

"Unfortunately it will mean I am on crutches for four to six weeks and then there will be another month of rehabilitation.
"It looks like I will be out of action until the start of the grass-court season which gets underway at the end of May."

Windley was due to be in Lyon, France, this week taking part in $10,000 hard court event.
Having missed that tournament, she will also miss out on a £10,000 tournament in Bath followed by a £25,000 event in Jersey.

"The biggest disappointment is missing the three tournaments in Japan" said Windley.
"It was a tour I was really looking forward to, but I have to accept I will miss it and move on.
"I have been told it can be really dangerous to come back too soon from this sort of injury.
"But I have a lot of good people around me and I will be receiving the best advice as I go through my recovery.
"There is a little pain and quite a bit of bruising and throbbing, but I am sure when I come back there'll be no stopping me."
