As with the under 10’s a few weeks ago Lincolnshire we’re straight in at the deep end with a strong Warwickshire team to face. Both Nicole and the doubles pairing of Jessica and Dana had tight matches that unfortunately didn’t go our way in the tie breaks. Next up was Leicestershire, again another tight match which this time we came through, players were finding the hot conditions difficult but somehow Dana and Jessica managed to clinch the doubles and seal a 3-1 win.
On day 2 the temperature reached up to 30degrees, so a long hard day was expected – and so it turned out. First up today was Northants and after 3 competitive singles matches Dana and Jessica teamed up to take the doubles 4-0, 4-0. The thought of getting off court quick into the shade seemed to inspire them!!
The final match of the weekend was up against Notts, with all to play for with Lincs and Warwickshire losing 1 match each and Notts undefeated. The performance of the weekend came from Dana in her singles winning 4-0 4-0. Lincs were then left having to win the doubles….. last match on, final set tiebreak…..a 10-7 loss. A good effort but unfortunately we just fell short.
There was a great team spirit over the weekend with every player contributing to a great team effort, may be next year…………..
