New Role for Patricia Kenneally-Forrester

I am delighted to be appointed to the role of Fair Play Ambassador for Lincolnshire, and am happy to ensure different clubs, coaches, parents, adult and junior players are aware of, and work together on any key initiatives that will lead to improvements in the experience of participating in tennis competitions locally.  I feel my many years of experience in marketing, and as a teacher, tennis lover and tennis parent, will aid me in this voluntary role.

Fair Play has always been an important value, but we all need to do more to make it a reality at competitions and in tennis venues.  Fair Play is a key priority for the LTA Board and all of our support in helping to promote and drive this forward at a local level is greatly appreciated.

The LTA would like me to be a point of contact and mentor for Fair Play in Lincolnshire to ensure the message and concept of Fair Play is fully taken on board and spread throughout the county. From this tennis winter season starting September 2013, I shall be sending regular Fair Play blogs to the Lincolnshire County website with any updates, on good practice witnessed across our county, and on national activities or initiatives that may be of interest to us here in Lincolnshire.

Your views ‘will’ count !

I shall hope to meet as many players, parents, coaches and tournament officials at the Lincolnshire County Closed to ascertain from you any areas of concern, and to exchange ideas on ways forward to improve the tennis and competition environment for everyone.

I shall also be a link for feedback between our local tennis LTA office, local tennis councillors and local tennis organisers, on what I am hoping will help Lincolnshire be seen as a County full of excellent Fair Play Role Models.  Our efforts, I am told, will be also acknowledged by the national LTA Board.

I am introducing a new Fair Play Awards initiative for Lincolnshire …

I shall be inviting tennis competition organisers and tournament referees to contact me if/when their events have finished in order to nominate exemplary candidates for a Fair Play Award for recent conduct at local tournaments.  So if you have been involved in running LTA approved Grade 3, 4, 5 or 6 tournaments in Lincolnshire in the summer 2013 season, do please send me ‘one’ male and/or ‘one’ female nomination.  Noting that this is not an award about being the best tennis player, it is an award for those who can be signed up locally with me as Fair Play role models.  Nominees can be juniors or adults. The nominees will be shortlisted, and the award itself is hoped to be announced at the next Lincolnshire Tennis Awards Presentation evening.

HOW CAN I BE CONTACTED?
I can be contacted by coaches, parents, adult and junior players and parents via my email address:
kenneallyforrester@msn.com.

If a face to face meeting is needed, I can meet and greet parents ‘by appointment and when mutually convenient’ at different county clubs & events, as and when appropriate.

Naturally, I shall be visiting tennis events across the county to see how we are doing during the different key tennis events throughout the season, I may not make it to all, but I will try to visit as many as possible. I have been given a lanyard with the Fair Play Ambassador logo to wear to help you identify me. Please feel free to introduce yourself to me to exchange your views or any ideas on Fair Play and to discuss how we can all take this forward to make our county one which is full of excellent role models.

Let’s hope we can all make a difference.

Patricia
