Back in January 2013 Washingborough Playing Field Association (WPFA) secured Olympic legacy funding from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund.
On Thursday 29th August their new 2 court all weather facility was officially opened on yet another glorious summer’s evening and in front of around 70 sport’s fans and guests.
WPFA received £38,615 of National Lottery funding to upgrade their existing all weather multi-use games area (MUGA) which would improve the ability to safely deliver more tennis (and netball) within the village.
Washingborough PFA Chairman, John Copsey, said: “We were thrilled to have secured this investment, which meant we could upgrade our aging multi-sport, all weather facility to meet the need of the clubs using it and in particular our very successful and active netball & tennis clubs. Members from both clubs have been using the facility now for several weeks and are already benefiting from the much improved playing surfaces.”
