Day one: First up was a tie against a strong West of Scotland team, wins at seeds 5 & 6 from Will Mason and Dave Hubbard put Lincs 2-0 up, Dave Scales and Harry Burley at 3 & 4 also converted good wins putting Lincs 4-0 up! A close loss at seed 2 from Dom Beesley and a good win at seed 1 from Ed Allinson put Lincs 5-1 up and in an unassailable lead. Two doubles losses and one win leaving Lincs with an eventual 6-3 winning margin.
Day Two: A tough tie against Bedfordshire was up next. Will Mason unfortunately had to leave us but luckily Joe Woolley was available for the remainder of the weekend! Good wins for Hubbard and Burley put Lincs 2-0 up, Dave Scales lost a very good match against top British junior Josh Sapwell at 4, before Woolley comfortably put Lincs 3-1 up. Beesley at 2 lost to a very good opponent, before Allinson won an epic match 6-4 in the final set! 4-2 up after the singles it eventually came down to a deciding doubles rubber which Allinson and Hubbard took convincingly 6-2 6-1 to give Lincs a 5-4 victory!
Day Three: Final day and victory against a good Buckinghamshire team meant promotion! Hubbard gave Lincs the perfect start fighting back from a set down to win at 6. Burley cruised to victory at 5 leaving Lincs 2-0 up. Scales at 4, won a very tense match 6-4 in the third and Woolley comfortably won at 3, leaving Lincs in a very strong position 4-0 up. Beesley despite a tremendous fighting effort narrowly lost 7-6 in the third set at 2, before Allinson won comfortably at seed 1 leaving Lincs 5-1 up and promoted!!
So, a fantastic effort from all 7 lads who played, leaving Lincs with winter promotion following on from promotion in the summer!
Hopefully despite being in a higher League we can push on and compete as well as we have been doing!
