Grantham Tennis Club staff organised the events in which 15 schools (with 90 children taking part) turned up to compete and display their tennis skills. Each school put forward 4 players, including 2 boys & 2 girls.
There was a range of abilities, from complete beginners to more seasoned players.
Each week saw the two schools that won most matches take the route to the final, which was held on Wednesday. The school teams reaching the final included West Grantham Academy A, St. Marys A, National School, Grantham Prep, Gonerby Hill Foot, Corby Glenn, Malcolm Sargent A & B.
Paul Kennedy (Grantham Tennis Club coach) commented that, “the amount of players we have seen in the last few weeks has been fantastic. The players have shown us some brilliant tennis and it’s great to see so many children leaving the event with smiles on their faces.”
The final saw the National School as runners-up, with Grantham Prep going through to the School Games County Final, taking place on 10th July at Yarborough Leisure Centre, Lincoln.
