We have just returned from spending a great weekend in Corby with this year’s 10U County Team, The team, consisting of Hugo Hunt, William Cheer, Ryan Scaman and George Burkitt came third overall after playing some very good Tennis.
On day one we played Northamptonshire and Leicestershire, we were 2-1 down after the singles in both matches, resulting in both fixtures pivoting on the doubles result. Our first doubles was against Northants, where William and Hugo put in a great performance to win the doubles and take the fixture to a shootout. In the shootout the boys again put in a great performance and at 9-7 up the boys thought they had got in the bag, unfortunately the luck was against them and Northants managed to pull it back and win 11-9. In the other fixture Ryan and George missed out to Leicestershire, but played brilliantly.
On Day 2 the weather turned and conditions were very challenging, the boys used this to their advantage and played Notts in their first match. Some very strong singles performances resulted in Lincs being 2-1 up after the singles. Against Warwickshire, who were overall winners, the story was a little different as we were 2-1 down in the singles, however excellent play from Will Cheer resulted in him being the only player over the weekend to beat a Warwickshire player at singles. George and Ryan also missed out in the doubles against a very strong pair. In the Doubles against Notts, Will and Hugo took their match down to the wire and won in the third set tiebreak

A great effort from the boys and a huge thanks to a great bunch of parents and players and Terry Hunt who assisted on court over the weekend
