Budding tennis players at Abbas and Templecombe Church of England Primary School are celebrating the permanent addition of tennis court lines to the school’s playground.
The painting of the lines was part of a project by Wincanton based Game Set and Match Tennis Academy.
Head teacher at the school Helen Townson said the permanent addition to the playground was proving very popular.
She said: “I’m potty about tennis and the kids love playing it. We have a mini Wimbledon tournament each year, and before we have had to put rubber lines out, but this is much better – there’s no question of whether it’s in or out now.”
Head coach of Game Set and Match Tennis Academy Jon Rolnik said: “The plan was to provide a very cost effective way of enabling local school children to play tennis at anytime, with the correct size court markings for primary school year groups 1 and 2, 3 and 4.
“This is generally the most important age group to be starting, learning and playing tennis.
“The court markings look fabulous, and the children couldn’t wait to start playing on the new courts. We hope to role this idea out across all our local cluster primary schools and beyond.”
