Cheddar LTC’s Grade 4 event in early August was marked by success for Cheddar club players Amy Rossiter and Vanessa Brill who contested the finals of both the 14U and 16U girls singles. They’ve played each other many times and this time Amy came out on top, winning both finals.
Once again entries were very strong in all three boys’ age groups, so that the club was able to run Grade 5 events alongside the Grade 4 at 12U and 14U. This was partly made possible by the lack of entries in the girls’ 12U event, which had to be cancelled. Organiser Peter Colton said “I think too many girls look at the website and don’t enter unless they see a reasonable number of entries, whereas if they entered early on it would encourage others and more girls’ events would take place.”
