Jack Shepard, Head Coach of Frome Selwood Tennis Club was shortlisted to the top three Participation Coach of the Year Award for Somerset and at the presentation evening, hosted at Somerset County Cricket Club, he was awarded the winning first prize. The awards were organised by SASP, Somerset Activity & Sports Partnership, an active organisation supporting all sports throughout Somerset allocating funding, support and advise to schemes encouraging more people to take part in sports.
Jack Shepard has been a member of Frome Tennis Club since the age of 6, developing his tennis skills to become one of the top players in the club, his passion for tennis has continued to grow and after gaining experience at Frome grasped exciting opportunities abroad which enhanced his coaching skills to a very high levels. On his return to Frome he took the position of Head Coach at Frome Selwood Tennis Club and now runs a large Junior and Adult Program, reaching out to all the local schools as well. His time, dedication and hard work has given many people the opportunity to take part in tennis be it in a school, full coaching program or holiday camps and he is held in high regard by many who in all weathers continue to come to their buzzing tennis lessons. The Participation Coach of the Year Award was well deserved for the efforts he has put in to creating and maintaining a coaching program that is almost fully saturated and playing a big part in many children’s sporting development.
The presentation evening was well attended by 30 nominee’s and all their supporters from all different sports and clubs over Somerset, sponsored by The Rotary Club of Taunton Vale an evening of networking and celebration took place.
