Young South Wales tennis star Evan Hoyt has helped Great Britain's 16U boys team to victory in the Junior Davis Cup in Mexico.
Evan, from Llanelli, was part of a three-player GB team under captain Greg Rusedski taking part in the Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Finals.
The team of Evan Hoyt, Kyle Edmund, Luke Bambridge defeated second seeds Italy 2-0 in the final on Sunday night to take the title.
Evan got GB off to the perfect start after beating Stefano Napolitano 6-4, 6-3 in the first singles rubber.
Greg Rusedski said: "I'm very proud of our team. It feels great to be the first British team ever to win the Junior Davis Cup."
The team began the week with three consecutive victories in the group phase against Thailand, Germany and Canada before overcoming the sixth seeds France in Saturday's semi-final.
Earlier in the year, Evan helped GB to win the Borotra Cup for the first time in the 40 years of the event. He also won his first round match at Junior Wimbledon, and made national headlines when he faced Rafa Nadal in a warm-up on court.
Peter Drew, chief executive of Tennis Wales commented: “This is a really tremendous achievement for Evan and another sign that Welsh and British tennis has a very promising future.”
