Disability Sport Wales has been shortlisted in this year’s prestigious National Lottery Awards which is broadcast on national television.
The National Lottery Awards reward and recognise the inspirational impact of National Lottery funded projects across all sections of society. National Lottery players raise more than £35 million for good causes throughout the UK every week.
Over 900 good causes from across the UK were nominated in this year’s Awards. Disability Sport Wales has made it through to the final seven in the Best Sport Project category, with a coveted National Lottery Awards trophy and a £2,000 cash prize up for grabs if we get the highest number of public votes in their category.
Disability Sport Wales provides sporting opportunities for disabled children and adults in every area of Wales. We are appealing for public support as we bid to make it all the way to the star-studded awards ceremony in September which will be shown on BBC One.

“We’re really proud and excited to have reached the finals of The National Lottery Awards. Lottery investment has helped us to increase the number of opportunities for disabled people to participate in sport within local communities throughout Wales. In 2001 there were only 1,200 recorded opportunities for disabled people participating in sport. That figure has risen to over 1 million iby 2012. With our club structure increasing to over 330 clubs and our volunteer workforce rising to over 4,000, this national recognition would be fantastic testament to the hard work and commitment of all of our Disability Sport Wales Development Officers, clubs, coaches and volunteers who work so tirelessly to make a real difference in their local communities.

There are seven nominees in seven categories in the Awards, reflecting the main areas of Lottery funding: arts, sport, heritage, health, environment, education and voluntary/charity.
