Young players from across South Wales reach tennis finals

Players from clubs and centres in Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Penarth, and Llantrisant were among the finalists at the South Wales Junior Tennis Championships.

                   

The busy annual tournament saw more than 200 matches played in four days, most at Cardiff Metroplitan University, with the 8U and 9U events hosted by David Lloyd Cardiff.

 

Results:

8U Boys –

Winner: William Hart, Llantrisant LTC;

Runner-up: Ojas Mohite, Cardiff Met Tennis Academy;

 

8U Girls -

Winner: Gracie Hurley, Swansea Tennis Centre;

Runner-up: Elizabeth Evans, Swansea Tennis Centre;

 

9U Boys –

Winner: Alexander Bradley Glinister, Windsor LTC;

Runner-up: Ioan Phillips, Cardiff Met Tennis Academy;

 

10U Boys  -

Winner:  Jethro Dela Vega, Swansea Tennis Centre;

Runner-up: Alexander Bradley Glinister, Windsor LTC, Penarth;

 

12U Boys –

Winner:  Alex Lewis, Windsor LTC;

Runner-up: Shay Ryan, David Lloyd Cardiff;

 

12U Girls –

Winner:  Alina Ali, Cardiff Met Tennis Academy;

Runner-up: Molly Walsh, Allt-yr-yn LTC;

 

14U Boys –

Winner: Danny Flynn, Swansea Tennis and Squash Club;

Runner-up: Dafydd James, Cardiff LTC;

 

14U Girls –

Winner:  Grace Lim, David Lloyd Cardiff;

Runner-up: Rebecca Howley, Swansea Tennis and Squash Club;

 

16U Boys –

Winner: Callum Findlay, David Lloyd Cardiff; 

 Runner-up: Dylan Chase,  Swansea Tennis and Squash Club.

 

“This is always a very popular winter tournament, which produces some excellent tennis,” said Tennis Wales chief executive, Peter Drew. “It emphasises that tennis truly is an all-year sport, as well as being one that’s open to all ages and all abilities.”
