Tennis Wales Vacancy – Accessibility Focus Group

Are you passionate about the role of sport participation for minority groups in the community?  Tennis Wales has an exciting voluntary role for the right person to help lead our ambitious plans to make tennis accessible to every sector of the Welsh community.  Tennis is a fantastic, fun, healthy, and sociable sport that can be played by all ages and all abilities of the community.  Tennis Wales wants everyone across Wales to have this great opportunity and for Tennis to be accessible to everyone in the community no matter whether someone has a disability, no matter what their gender or ethnicity, and no matter what their financial background. 

Do you have the vision, knowledge, and understanding to help set up the right strategies for taking tennis to those who do not normally get these opportunities, or who are under-represented in tennis?  Tennis Wales has made some very good progress on this in recent years using new approaches and highly innovative and adaptive formats of tennis.  To help drive this approach further, Tennis Wales is now setting up a small strategic ‘Accessibility Focus Group’.  We are looking for the right person to take a lead role with this group in a voluntary capacity which will link with the Tennis Wales Board and Staff. 

Tennis Wales is a medium sized National Sporting Organisation and has achieved some excellent results in recent years as it strives to significantly increase tennis participation levels across Wales, as well as produce international level tennis players.  This role will play a vital part in helping to make this happen for Welsh tennis.

Key skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Experience, knowledge, and/or links with minority groups in the community
  • Ability in partnership working and relationship management;
  • A good knowledge of the sporting sector
  • Strong intellect and analytical ability; innovative thinker and ability to focus on the issues to be dealt with;
  • Able to build and maintain strong, transparent relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Strong decision making skills that allow informed decisions to be made on a variety of matters
