VOLUNTEER SOCIAL MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT

About the role

Tennis Wales are the Governing Body of tennis with an exciting vision for the future. In partnership with the Lawn Tennis Association & Sport Wales we aim to open tennis up to more people. Tennis Wales support a growing infrastructure of 86 registered tennis venues, 22 Local Authorities, 220 schools and a superb network of charitable partners & sponsors. 

The Volunteer Social Media & Communications Assistant role has been created to help us spread our message to a large network of tennis parents, players, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, charitable partners, clubs, parks, schools & indoor facilities. This role is integral to our plans, helping Tennis Wales have the very best social media platforms, newsletters and communications to benefit tennis in Wales.  

The role has been created to be as flexible as possible. The successful candidate will be able to plan & manage their own time and contribute to Tennis Wales remotely. Tennis Wales will provide paid expenses and support any travel costs incurred and also provide a great learning & development environment, with regular line management, support & career development opportunities provided.

Key Accountabilities

SOCIAL MEDIA 

  1. To manage the Tennis Wales twitter, Facebook & Instagram accounts, providing the latest tennis news & opportunities to people across Wales in a highly engaging & professional way.
  2. To use our social media platforms to grow the number of tennis players in Wales as well as broaden the number of fans watching & following our sport.
  3. To work directly with Tennis Wales to create & publish dynamic content, posts, videos and case studies that can be shared as widely as possible to raise the profile of tennis.
  4. To ensure all social media platforms used by Tennis Wales are highly professional, legally compliant and examples of absolute best practise.  
  5. Link into the tennis young person’s ambassador scheme to gather the latest news & stories from across Welsh tennis using WhatsApp, drop box and regular dialogue.
  6. To develop monthly content in partnership with Tennis Wales and send dynamic, high quality and purposeful e-newsletters on a monthly basis to tennis stakeholder groups.  

NEWSLETTERS & COMMUNICATIONS

  1. To help develop a consistent brand & tone for Tennis Wales, making our stakeholders feel part of the success of our organisation whenever they hear from us.  
  2. To manage the sending of Tennis Wales emails & communications to large stakeholder groups, creating databases in line with GDPR responsibilities and working with Tennis Wales staff to develop great and engaging content.

PRESS RELEASES

  1. To collate & send monthly press releases to partner agencies, promoting the successes & opportunities for tennis in Wales with excellence.

GENERAL 

  1. To work closely with Tennis Wales staff, attending monthly team meetings to provide updates & reporting on work undertaken.
  2. To contribute to, and work as part of the Tennis Wales team at all times, embracing the spirit of team work and collaboration.  
  3. To establish & maintain relationships with key stakeholders & tennis partners with excellence and great communication at all times.
  4. To be an ambassador of British Tennis, working to open tennis up.

Knowledge, Training & Qualifications:

Competent IT skills (Word/ Excel/PowerPoint/Databases/Microsoft Office/internet)

A satisfactory DBS disclosure

An understanding of the sport & leisure sector

Specialist qualifications on communications, social media and working with the media
