Ribbons where not going to get in the way for Roger Draper, Chief Executive of the LTA, as he visited Henley in Arden to open their new artificial grass courts and floodlights. The Club were ecstatic when Roger accepted their invitation to the evening opening event.
The culmination of a mixed doubles event was played under floodlights alongside junior matchplay events demonstrating how the club has taken on board competition. Roger commented that when he walked into the club the wow factor was evident.
The evening was organised by the committee, the coaches, junior leaders, umpires and members and there was a definite buzz about the place which Judy Wilde the Club Chair says is there all the time she continued, “We are keen to keep the momentum going and are already fund raising for the next facility development. I feel Roger’s visit was great for grass roots tennis and our committee and members are motivated to achieve even more.”
