Over the Easter period Solihull Arden coaches Steve Hayward and Gary Naughton have been delighted with the performances of some of their junior players. Since returning from IMG Bollitieri Tennis Academy in Florida Mason Recci has made the final of an U12 Indoor Series and recently in April won the Sutton U12 Grand Prix defeating Luke Hammond from Edgbaston Priory in the semi-final and Troy Dixon in the final from Oxfordshire. In March Mason was selected to represent Warwickshire winning all 3 of his matches without dropping a game.
Over the last few weeks Alannah Griffin has won a Grade 3 U14’s event at Sutton and has been selected to attend a Training Camp at the LTA National Tennis Centre in Roehampton this is for the top 1996 girls in the country. She has also been selected to represent Warwickshire in the U14’s County Cup to be held down in Bournemouth over the Bank Holiday week-end. In March she lost in one final and got to semi-final of another Arial Indoor Series Grade 3 Under 14 events at Newport and Tipton respectively.
Finlay Geelan won the Mini Tennis Green event at Leamington Spa. He also entered the New Milton Junior Open, and got to the final, which he unfortunately lost in a tie-break. Joseph Ellis played in two Grade 3 tournaments over Easter. At Sutton Coldfield he reached the semi final and then he enjoyed a fantastic week when he won the Cheltenham Junior Open. Joe has just been selected for the National U10 Road Show and he played for Warwickshire in the 16 Counties tournament.
Ashwini Foster won a Grade 3 U12 Loughborough Indoor Series in February and followed that up with victory in a Grade 3 U12 Cambridge Indoor Series in March. More recently in April she won the U12 Cheltenham Open and was runner-up at the U12 Nottingham Open.
