The AEGON Team Tennis Schools Year 8 & 10 competition reached its conclusion with the Finals held at Bolton Arena this past weekend. A boy’s team from year 10 at Kenilworth School had made the finals after beating off many other schools in their age group. The aim of The AEGON Team Tennis Schools competition is to provide players of all abilities with the opportunity to compete in a school team tennis competition, with more successful teams able to progress on a pathway to a National Final at the Bolton Arena!
Kenilworth School’s 4 member strong boys team consisted of Jamie Gibson, Jordan Begley, Cameron Fisher and James Wilkins. They faced off against Reed’s School (Surrey), Millfield School (Somerset) and Holmfirth School (Yorkshire). All schools had a strong and competitive tennis background so 3 very tough matches were expected, the results from the finals were as follows:
Reed’s School 10 – 2 Kenilworth School
Kenilworth School 0 – 12 Millfield School
Holmfirth School 8 – 4 Kenilworth School
Unfortunately, although the entire team gave 100% the results left Kenilworth Schools boys team in 4th place in the league and meant they did not manage to go through to the final. However a great time was had by all 4 boys and the experience of the entire competition will put them in good stead for future competitions of such a high calibre.
