Four lucky Warwickshire Volunteers were offered the opportunity to help out at Wimbledon this year as part of a thank you gift from Warwickshire LTA for all their help and support over the past 12 months. The four volunteers were Natalie Hatton, Alana Casey (The Edgbaston Priory Club), Tom Holmes (Kenilworth LTSC) and Joshua Treacy (Henley In Arden TC). Natalie provided WLTA with a short report on their week down at SW19:
Four of us from Warwickshire (Alana Casey, Tom Holmes, Joshua Treacy and Natalie Hatton) worked at Wimbledon the week 21st – 26th June. It was a tough week getting up early and working long days but we all managed it, had great fun and made a lot of memories.
We stayed at Roehampton University in the Halls and shared our flat with a Chair Umpire from Italy called Rudi.
We joined with leaders from Kent and worked on many different stations throughout the day and met many professional players. In our breaks we were able to access Centre Court and Court 2, in which we saw some good matches. We were at Wimbledon the week the queen visited and experienced the longest match in history.
We returned to the university about 9’ o clock every night when we all had our long needed showers, ate our takeaway food ( a lot of) and played our nightly games of cards. Overall we had an amazing week and really enjoyed ourselves.
