Ben Brewster Age 10. Attends St John Vianney School in Coventry and has been selected to play for Great Britain in an U10 international match in August 2011 against Belgium. The match is being played at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton over 3 days with both singles and doubles matches against the best U10 players in Belgium. Ben is one of only 4 boys picked.
Ben has been coached by Lynda Flynn since age 6 at Esporta in Coventry and trains 4 or 5 times a week. Lynda who is a very experienced coach has worked really hard to get Ben to this level. He also has individual fitness sessions with Gary Sherwin at Esporta. Ben has very recently moved his coaching to Solihull Arden so he has access to other national standard players although continues to train at Esporta every week. As part of this Ben spent a week training at La Manga in Spain in May.
Ben was originally selected to attend the LTA’s County Talent Identification programme in 2008 and quickly progressed to Regional and National level. He now regularly attends Regional Training in Nottingham and National Training at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton. Ben is a part of the LTA’s Aegon Futurestars programme. Ben travels the country playing in national and regional tournaments. He has won several regional tournaments in 2011 and recently reached the semi-final and quarter finals in national tournaments. He is currently 4th on the National Leaderboard for his age group.
Ben has represented both Warwickshire and the Midlands. In June Ben represented the Midlands against the South East winning both his games during the week long Aegon Classic at Edgbaston Priory. He also took part in a centre court demonstration prior to the semi-finals of the Aegon Classic.
In his spare time Ben has played football for Coundon Court Football Club in Coventry for the last 4 years also having previously been a part of the Coventry City football academy.
Ben really enjoys his tennis and competing and can’t wait for his chance to represent his country.
