Lordswood Girls School Pupils & Birmingham Metropolitan College Student Enjoy Wimbledon 2012

On Monday 25th June 2012, 8 pupils in Years 8 and 10 from Lordswood Girls School, Birmingham and Birmingham Metropolitan College students travelled to London to attend the first day of the Wimbledon Championships.  The girls had been rewarded with tickets for court number 2 due to all of the hard work in lessons and their regular attendance to extracurricular clubs this year.

It was a glorious day and the girls got to witness the tennis is true Wimbledon style. As well as seeing players warming up, battle it out on courts around the grounds and sampling the strawberries and cream; they eventually settled down in the sunshine on court number two to watch the first round game between Venus Williams and Elena Vesnina.  Despite the fact that Venus was knocked out of the tournament after losing 2 sets, it was an incredible experience and a thoroughly enjoyable day!
