The League Secretary of the South Warwickshire Summer Tennis League, Corin Bishop ,announced that the "King Cup" will be awarded to Littletons Tennis Club with the title "Club of the Year" in 2013.
This decision was based first by eliminating clubs who did not enter the Junior League which left 13 and also any that had been fined for rule infringements during the current season and caused problems for the league administrators. This left 10 out of 21 clubs. Then two more were knocked out of the reckoning by their junior sides missing a match during their season leaving 8 clubs. In fairness to others, previous winners were then discounted in order to spread the rewards, leaving only four clubs who are worthy of mention, Evesham, Ilmington, Littletons and Snitterfield.
The latter two were in the final three last year but the longer serving team of Littletons' captains, contacts and coaches, clinched the deal with excellent communication from Chris Elliott for the A Team and long serving Graham Lawrence from the B Team for the men and club coach Andrew Reynolds for the Juniors. The Littletons Men's A Teams enjoyed a successful season finishing as runners-up to Stratford in the Premier Division. Meanwhile Littleton B, although finishing bottom of Division Three and relegated, were just pipped into second position for the "Fair Play Plate" by a single vote. This award is voted on by all the teams in the league so was a credit to their standards and friendliness. Their youngsters were unlucky to be runners-up in Pool D of the Junior competition. Littletons Tennis Club has developed over the last twenty or so years from a small club to three new courts and a new clubhouse with a good coaching set up and strong membership. Their motto is "At Littletons we believe the future growth of the club is built around an active junior programme and competitive tennis". For all these reasons Littletons Tennis Club are fully deserving of their title Club of their Year 2013.
