A great weekend for Warwickshire LTA with both the Boys and Girls winning their Division 2b events to gain promotion Division 1 Boys and Girl competitions, to be played at Bath University this time next year.
The boys team consisted of Luke Simkiss, Luke Oakley, Oliver Plaskett, Harry Busby, Mason Recci, Max Phipps, Luke Hammond, Joe Ellis.
The girls team consisted of Josie Williamson, Holly Reid, Emily Smith, Maria Pandya, Ashwini Foster, Kate Malazonia, Hanna Porter, Katie Wainhouse.
Their coaches, Claire Williamson with the Girls at Bolton and Gary Naughton with the Boys at Redbridge both reported that the teams were at 4 matches all, with the deciding doubles still to be played.
It was a nail-biting hour and a half until Claire Williamson reported that the Girls had beaten a strong Surrey team to win 5-4. Shortly afterwards Gary Naughton reported that the Boys had beaten Kent 5-4 and that both teams were promoted to Division 1. The coaches also reported that the atmosphere at both their venues was electric and that they were immensely proud of their teams and that every player had fought hard for Warwickshire all weekend. Both teams faced a long trip home to Birmingham on Sunday evening but they did so carrying their trophies.
