Hot on the heels of Natasha Hillyer's success in Hull, Warwickshire Junior Emily Smith was in action in at the Matan Gafniel Raanana Open in Raanana, Israel. Emily who was seeded fifth for the event faced a tough draw with very strong draw featuring players from Israel, Holland, Lithuania, Serbia, Ukraine, Slovakia, Russia and Hungry.
Emily needed had any concern though as she was in fantastic form beating the second and third seeds on her route to the final without losing a set in any of her matches. In the final of the event Emily had to face number one seed Justina Mikulskyte of Lithuania. After taking a tight first set 7-6 Emily went on to lose the second 6-3, however that did nothing but spur Emily on to take the third set 6-2 and the ITF title back to Edgbaston Priory.
