Warwickshire Mini Tennis Leagues – September to December 2015
8U Girls Only Event
3 clubs entered the girls’ competition hosted by Virgin, Warks. They were: Leamington, Edgbaston Archery and Rugby.
It was a round robin format, with Edgbaston Archery winning both of their games comfortably and taking this term’s title!
8U Mixed Event
Birmingham & Soliull Area
With the Priory indoor courts out of commission, the Birmingham and Solihull leagues were merged and took place at DL Solihull. The three division 1 winners who progressed to the County Finals were: Blossomfield A, DL Solihull A and DL Birmingham. In division 2, West Warwicks C, Blossomfield B, and West Warwicks B won their respective divisions.
Coventry and South Warwickshire Area
The matches in this area were hosted by Virgin, Warwickshire. There were two division 1 boxes, with Warwick TC A and Rugby A both progressing to the County finals. In division 2, Kenilworth B, Leamington B, and Victoria Park all won their respective boxes.
The County Finals
In the quarter final, DL Birmingham defeated Warwick TC A. The semi-finals saw DL Birmingham winning the all David Lloyd battle against Solihull 6-4. The other semi-final saw Rugby A beat Blossomfield 7-3. DL Solihull won the third place play-off. In the final, DL Birmingham played brilliantly to defeat Rugby to take the County title!
Orange & Green Finals – at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre on Sunday 24th January 2016
9U Boys
The final was between Kenilworth (Ollie Roe & Connor Checketts) and Warwick TC (Ferran Redza & Charlie Bridge). With the singles being split 2-2, Kenilworth winning the doubles was key and was enough to give them the title.
9U Girls
This time the final was Leamington (Freya Richardson & Abigail George) vs Virgin (Lucia Cassidy & Katie Rose). Again, the singles were split 2-2 and Leamington took the doubles to win 3-2 and take the title.
10U Boys
The final was an all Leamington affair between their A & B teams. The four players involved were: Monty Thompson, Elliot Edwards, Henry Jones & Osian Catlin. The A team took the title 5-0.
10U Girls
The girls’ final was Edgbaston Priory (Claudia Sheftelia & Alexandra Hayes) vs Warwick TC (Emma Cooke & Lucy Cooke). There were a lot of close matches, but Priory came through to win 4-1.
