At the 2012 Wiltshire AGM on 5th December the annual county awards also took place. A huge congratulations to all of this year's deserving winners.
Club of the Year - Chippenham TC
- Excellent example of good practice and has delivered a varied and consistent quality programme for many years.
- Achieved Tennis Clubmark in the 1st wave of clubs.
- Currently boasts 320 members with more than 350 BTM’s and has a solid RCJ foundation of 60 + and they regularly host grade 5 & 6 tournaments.
- Has a varied coaching and activity programme, strong links with local schools and many successful junior and senior teams in the local leagues.
- Has an excellent volunteer and professional workforce which includes 2 LTA licensed coaches and 3 registered coaching assistants.
- Has a strong and motivated management is also keen to become involved in new schemes and is continually developing.
- Have worked hard to ensure they have a quality facility that includes 6 floodlit courts, a large clubhouse and access to an indoor multisport bubble.
Player of the Year - Katy Hancock
- A loyal player at Wootton Bassett TC who has been playing tennis for over 10 years and has competed in over 300 ratings matches in her playing life.
- Has represented the County at 10’s, 12’s, 14’s, 18’s and senior level.
- Currently ranked number 3 in the Open County rankings and is our current 18&U County Singles and Mixed Doubles Champion.
- The current County Captain says “Katy encompasses all the qualities of what makes a perfect team player, she is hard working, reliable, loyal and a very popular member of any team she represents."
Team of the Year - Catherine and Lewis Fletcher
- Winners at National Deaf Tennis Championships in singles and doubles.
- Selected to represent GB Deaf Team at the European Championships in Koblenz.
- Bronze medallists in mixed doubles at the European Deaf Championships 2012.
- Nominated for team of the year at Deaf Sports Personality Awards 2012 that took place last. month. Made the last 3.
- 1st Deaf tutors to run a CPD course under the LTA.
- Coached 12U & 18U for Wiltshire LTA.
Volunteer of the Year - Alison Bather (Malmesbury TC)
- Volunteer at this club for just over 12 months. However, during this time this Alison has helped the club achieve so much.
- Instrumental in establishing and appointing a Head Coach.
- A Junior and Adult coaching programme.
- Links with the local primary school (by the end of the year all junior school children would have been to the club to experience tennis.
- This person was the main catalyst in securing Tennis Clubmark, hours have been spent understanding the requirement s, co-ordinating the file, meeting with the LTA, visiting other clubs and communicating with club members.
- When the current Secretary resigned this person took over and has since designed and launched a new club website to ensure the club looks more attractive to members and non members.
- Alison has tirelessly promoted the club and its coaching programme and current numbers have increased to over 150 with 70 people involved in the coaching programme.
- Along with other team members this person is working hard to help the club to raise money for a further 2 floodlit courts and a new modern clubhouse.
- The club say “she has shown initiative, drive, passion, commitment and enthusiasm, she is a joy to work with and we are very lucky to have her”.

- Winner of 9 International Women’s singles Titles
- Winner of 26 International Doubles titles
- 3 Women’s GB World titles
- 3 World Junior Masters titles
- World number 20
- Number 3 Woman in Great Britain
- Winner of the 2007 BBC sports personality of the year for the South West
- Paralympian London 2012
