Play tennis for free at Stocksbridge Tennis Club
Stocksbridge Tennis Club will be offering free tennis on Sunday 17 May and Sunday 14 June, 10am – 4pm as part of the Great British Tennis Weekend. The Great British Tennis Weekend will see venues across the country open their doors for a series of free weekend events - inspiring people to pick up a racket and hit the court for free.
The two open days at Stocksbridge will offer free tennis and coaching, Cardio tennis and fun games for all ages and abilities. There’s no need to book, just come along and join in. Rackets and balls will be provided and absolutely anyone can get involved. Whether you’ve never picked up a racket before or are a seasoned regular – there is no excuse not to come down.
Graham Taylor, Chair of Stocksbridge Tennis Club says “As well as starting the new season with two open days during the Great British Tennis Weekend, we are also celebrating the installation of new floodlighting on the courts. The new facilities will allow tennis to be played all year round and into the evenings. The club has gone from strength to strength over the last 2 years, from facing closure due to inadequate courts two years ago to having four resurfaced and resized courts with floodlighting. The club secured a grant from the LTA to have the floodlights installed, along-side money raised by members which was added to by the generosity of local businesses and community organisations”.
A pop-up café will be available at the club during the two Great British Tennis Weekends, so even those who just want to watch can enjoy cake and refreshments.
