We took a pretty young team to Sheffield - five of the girls still have at least 3 more years eligibility for 18s County Cup! They put in a tremendously mature performance all weekend though.
On Friday we beat a decent Staffordshire team 8-1, only losing a dead doubles rubber. Most matches were pretty comfortable but Jayanne and Megan both came through close singles rubbers.
On Saturday we played Avon. We went 5-0 to win the tie, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. In three of those matches we were a set down, but Alice, Savannah and Caitlin all showed real fighting spirit to come back and win. We eventually won the tie 7-2.
On Sunday we played Cheshire to determine who got promoted. On paper it could have been close but the girls showed their superior quality and cruised to a 6-1 win to take us back to Division 1 next year.
All the girls were excellent with a special mention to Chloe and Orla who didn’t get to play singles but who both were excellent in support and played some outstanding doubles as well. And to Jess for destroying every one of her opponents in less than an hour!
On to next year and go for the title!
