Yorkshire tennis player Luke Johnson has returned to the UK after 4 years in America playing in one of the strongest conferences for Clemson University in South Carolina.
After training and working over the summer in New York, Luke saved money to help set him off on his professional tennis career.
This started well. He won the British Tour event at Loughborough then travelled to Egypt to play ITF Futures events where he regained his ATP World singles and doubles rankings reaching the semi-final of the doubles event. His singles record since returning is 15 wins and 4 losses and has victories over 4 world ranked players.
Next week he plays in the ITF Futures event in Barnstable and then has been invited to be the hitting partner at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals at the O2 where he will be practising with the top 8 players in the world - including Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Stan Wawrinka , Milos Raonic, Kei Nishikori and Gael Monfils . This is a fantastic opportunity to hit with the best in the world.
Luke is hoping to follow this by representing Yorkshire in Group 1 at the County Cup 24-27th November in Bath.
December will see a road trip to ITF Futures events abroad. Luke is looking for sponsors to help him reach the higher levels. If anyone can help please contact him via his website at www.lukejohnsontennis.com or twitter @luke_johnson94.
