Heaton Tennis and Squash Club’s Closed Tennis Championship finals day took place on Sunday 2nd October 2016. The tournament ran across two weeks and showcased some of the finest tennis across Bradford.
The atmosphere was great throughout the day with lots of support from the members and players who came down to the club to support the finalists. The standard of tennis was extremely high, particularly from the younger players who did exceptionally well to reach the final stages of the tournament. They showed great determination, creating an exciting atmosphere which was thoroughly enjoyed by all those spectating on the day.
The ball boys and girls for the second year running did another great job in retrieving and supplying the balls to the players. They were all looking extremely smart and professional in the new club sponsors t-shirts that had kindly been donated by Manningham Concrete.
Sisters Hardija (15) and Kristela Vidnere (18) dominated the tournament for the second year; winning many of the categories that they played in. Hardija won the Mixed Doubles with Jevannie Ambrose (18), as well as the Ladies Doubles with her sister Kristela. It was an exciting final between the two sisters when they came head to head in the Ladies’ Singles with Hardija just taking the title 7 – 5 in the second set.
