Following on from our successful County Award Scheme, the LTA further enhanced and developed their own Tennis Awards Scheme, launched in 2015. It is now the time of year when we nominate individuals, clubs organisations etc. that have worked tirelessly to boost tennis in Yorkshire in 2017.
The British Tennis Awards which was launched on the 15th September 2017 form part of the Yorkshire LTA Awards. They are judged by an independent panel from within the County. A winner will receive the County Award in each category. The winner of each category is then put forward to the LTA for Regional and, subsequently, National judging.
Please consider nominating a member of your club, your club itself, an organisation that your club is linked to, a competition or an official that you believe has excelled in 2017.
The 10 categories are highlighted below:-
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR YOUNG VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
COACH AWARD CLUB OF THE YEAR
COMMUNITY VENUE OF THE YEAR DISABILITY AWARD
EDUCATION AWARD DISABILITY AWARD OFFICIAL OF THE YEAR
COMPETITION OF THE YEAR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT
The LTA guidelines for judging criteria can be found here
Please put the Awards on your Agenda for your next committee meeting, and when it arrives put the poster from the LTA on your notice board.
All entries will be online and the competition in Yorkshire will close on the 10th November 2017.
Our Awards Presentation Evening is on Monday 11th December at The Holiday Inn, Garforth, Leeds.
We look forward to receiving all nominations. Maybe one of our County Award Winners will succeed to become a National Winner and be presented with their award at Wimbledon 2018.
