A former semi-professional footballer, Marc first tried wheelchair tennis at the 2005 Spinal Unit Games after being injured in a car accident in 2003. He ended 2007 with his first career title and in 2008, his second full season in international competition, Marc won tournaments in Switzerland and France.

After narrowly missing out on qualification for the 2008 Paralympics, in 2009 Marc cemented his position as British No.3 and won three ITF Futures tournaments. He also made his debut for GB at the 2009 ITF World Team Cup, helping the team to fifth place. During 2010 Marc reached a career best singles ranking of No.20, he helped GB to fourth place at the World Team Cup and qualified for his first Wheelchair Tennis Doubles Masters.

Marc made a promising start to 2011, winning four doubles titles and one singles title, whilst also reaching his first ITF 2 Series singles final at the Israel Open. He ended 2011 with five doubles titles and qualifying for the year-end Doubles Masters for the second successive year alongside fellow Brits Gordon Reid and David Phillipson.

Marc secured a series of career firsts in 2012, winning his first ITF 1 Series singles title at the South African Open, where he also paired up with Gordon to win the men’s doubles. Following his South African success he reached his career best singles ranking of No. 13. Marc and Gordon went on to win the men’s doubles gold medal at the Eton Manor International, the Test Event for the London 2012 Paralympics and also made their Grand Slam debut as a doubles partnership at Wimbledon.

Marc made his Paralympic Games debut at London 2012, where he and Gordon were men’s doubles quarter-finalists. Marc started 2013 by winning the men’s doubles at the North West Challenge, Britain’s first world ranking tournament of the year, and he went on to win back-to-back men’s singles titles in Switzerland and Italy in March to consolidate his British No. 2 men’s ranking. At the end of April Marc won his first ITF 2 Series men's singles title at the Israel Open after securing his first career win over fellow Brit David Phillipson, while partnering Phillipson to the doubles title.

Marc was a singles and doubles semi-finalist at the Polish Open and the Czech Open in June. In July he reached the men's doubles semi-finals at the British Open, where he also won the mixed doubles partnering Jordanne Whiley. Marc partnered Alfie Hewett to win their second men's doubles title together at the ITF 2 Series Wroclaw Cup in Poland. He was a singles finalist at the Trofeo della Mole in Italy in late August and in September he reached back-to-back ITF 2 Series singles and doubles finals at the PTR Championships in the USA and the Tennis Canada International, winning the doubles in the USA and claiming both titles at the Tennis Canada International. He was seventh in the year-end Doubles Masters for the second successive year and started 2014 by reaching the men's doubles final at Britain's second world ranking tournament of the year in Bolton. After the USN Bolton Arena Indoor Marc has also achieved a new career best singles ranking.

He started March by playing in a wheelchair tennis exhibition at the World Tennis Day Showdown at Earls Court and went on to reach the men's singles and doubles finals at the Desert Classic in Arizona in mid-March before winning the men's doubles at the Atlanta Open in early May. Marc ended May as a member of Great Britain's bronze medal-winning men's team at the BNP Paribas World Team Cup before reaching the singles and doubkles finals at the Busan Open, the last of three back-to-back tourrnaments in South Korea. He also reached the men's singles quarterfinals for the first time at the British Open Super Series in July, where he partnered Jordanne Whiley to retaiin the mixed doubles title. Marc won back-to-back ITF 2 doubles titles with fellow Brit David Phillipson at the PTR Championships and the Tennis Canada International in September, also winning the men's singles at the Tennis Canada International for the second successive year. As his 2014 season drew to a close Marc partnered David Phillipson to a career best finish of sixth at the UNIQLO Wheelchair Doubles Masters.

After starting 2015 with a series of singles and doubles semi-finals in tournaments in the Netherlands and Brtiain, Marc recently completed back-to-back ITF 1 tournaments in the USA with victory in the men's consolation singles at the Cajun Classic.
