On Wednesday 24th April 2013, Elm Academy and Hillview Primary school battled out a Years 3 and 4 friendly match held in the glorious sunshine at Bournemouth Gardens Tennis Club.   Six players from each school took part in the friendly match, aimed at giving more primary school children the opportunity of experiencing competition in first class tennis venues.

A solid and disciplined display from Hillview Primary School was enough to overcome a spirited and stubborn Elm Academy. The annual Years 3 and 4 friendly match was a great success with  Hillview students being coached by Karl Burt (Bournemouth Gardens Mini Tennis Director) and Elm Academy students being coached by Chris Brown (LeAF Campus coach).

Overall, Hillview won the match 9-6 (rubbers).

After the match LeAF tennis coach Chris Brown placed his thanks to both schools l and the staff at Bournemouth Gardens Tennis Club: “We have a fantastic link with Bournemouth Gardens Tennis Club. Elm Academy are very lucky and honoured to be given the opportunity of taking part in the these special matches. The staff at Bournemouth Gardens have been fantastic in organising these matches.”

Karl Burt said after the match, ‘It was great to see all the children competing in a high energy environment. They all seemed to enjoy the experience of playing against different children in both singles and doubles matches and of course representing the school. Overall, it was a pretty close match and we look forward to our next encounter."
